We are seeking an experienced Hydrographic Survey Technician to join our team in Ferndale, WA. We provide hydrographic survey services in Washington State, the US, and internationally. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in both field and office environments, enjoys working in a small team, is self-directed, and excels at problem-solving. Responsibilities:
Conduct hydrographic and geophysical surveys.
Set up, calibrate, and test survey equipment on vessels, including performing patch tests, bar checks, and other calibration procedures as needed.
Operate acquisition software to collect survey data.
Process, clean, and analyze bathymetric and geospatial data using software such as Hypack, QPS, SonarWiz, Autocad, Global Mapper, etc.
Monitor real-time data quality, identifying and rectifying errors during acquisition.
Prepare field reports and survey logs.
Work closely with team members to ensure accurate data collection, timely delivery, and adherence to project requirements.
Travel to project sites, including working in remote locations, offshore environments, or aboard vessels for up to 4-6 weeks at a time.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, GIS, Engineering, or related field.
A minimum of 3 years of hydrographic experience.
Proficiency with hydrographic survey equipment, including multibeam, side scan, and subbottom sonar, Inertial Navigation Systems, GPS receivers, and topographic survey equipment.
Experience operating small (~25ft) vessels is a plus.
Familiarity with software such as Hypack, QPS, Sonarwiz, Autocad, Global Mapper, etc.
Expert-level experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability and flexibility to travel up to 180 days a year with atypical work schedules.
Eligible to work in the United States.
Valid Driver's License.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
